Shri Rajmohan Gandhi

Here in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA, so far from Nirmalabehn and her circle of devoted co-workers, I hear the shocking news of her sudden passing. The sorrow and shock of her numerous associates must be so great. I would be most grateful if my words of tribute can be added to the countless messages arriving in Delhi.

That small frame which packed such an immense amount of energy, warmth, and goodwill, and appeared as if from nowhere in places of need, has now been stilled. But those touched by her, and they are a large number, will continue her work. They will continue, in India, Pakistan and all of South Asia, to pursue the goals of justice for the deprived and bridge-building among the divided.

In deep sadness but also in gratitude to God for her life,
