Tributes
Dnesh & Indira Chandra
Nirmala Didi was an extra-ordinary human being,
who has left her permanent mark on this earth.
We had the good fortune to have worked with
Nirmala didi over the past several years, and
continued to be inspired every time we
interacted with her.
Our last meeting with her as just a few months
ago at her home in Delhi in November 2007. Her
love, compassion, friendship and warm
hospitality left an indelible mark on our minds
and our hearts. Not only were these sentiments
communicated by didi but also by her loving
staff including Shrinath, who obviously shared a
relationship that said 'family.'
Her commitment to creating a more just and
open-minded India and world was reflected in
every word and act. She was one of our last
remaining direct links to Mahatma Gandhi,and the
best tribute we can pay her, is to carry on his
mission which had become her life's mission, to
create a truly secular India where every child,
woman and man, will experience the richness that
is India. May Didi's soul rest in peace and may
she continue to guide us as we take her work
forward.
